CO2 Laser Marking Machine Introduction

CO₂ Laser Marking Machine is a versatile industrial system that uses a gas mixture (primarily carbon dioxide) as the laser medium. Electrically stimulated CO₂ gas generates a 10.6 µm wavelength infrared laser beam.

This specific wavelength is highly absorbable by organic and non-metallic materials. The CO2 Laser Marker uses high-speed galvanometers (scanning mirrors) to direct the laser beam across the material surface, vaporizing the top layer to create high-contrast, permanent marks

The CO2 laser marker can engrave on wood, acrylic, glass, leather, paper, cardboard, and most plastics.

CO₂ Laser Marking Machine Applications

CO2 Laser Markers are dominant in industries requiring coding and engraving on organic or polymer-based materials:

Food & Beverage: Date codes, batch numbers on plastic bottles, cartons, and labels.

Packaging: Paperboard, corrugated boxes, and coated cardboard.

Textiles & Leather: Cutting and engraving fabric, denim, and leather shoes.

Electronics: Marking on ABS, PVC, and other polymer casings.

Promotional Products: Engraving on wood (MDF, plywood), acrylic (plexiglass), and glass.

Automotive: Marking on fabric seats, dashboard plastics, and wiring harness sleeves.

Difference between 9.3µm and 10.6µm CO₂ lasers?
The 10.6µm wavelength is the standard, cost-effective option for most general applications.

The 9.3µm wavelength is a specialized variant designed for high-contrast marking on heat-sensitive materials like PET, thin films, and certain plastics. It causes less heat damage and burn marks, making it ideal for transparent films and high-quality plastic engraving.

Main parameters (Power, Speed, Frequency) control

Power: Affects the laser's energy output. Higher power = deeper engraving.

For thin materials, use lower power (10-30%); for hard materials like thick glass or hardwoods, use higher power (50-100%) .

Speed: The movement speed of the laser head. High speeds (≥3000mm/s) are for large, shallow areas;

low speeds (≤1000mm/s) are for deep, detailed cuts .

Frequency (Hz): Controls the number of laser pulses per second.

Low frequencies (1-20kHz) produce a coarse, deep "piercing" effect for materials like rubber.

High frequencies (20-50kHz) produce a smooth, polished surface for applications like glass engraving.

How CO2 Laser Marking Machine Works?

The core of the machine is the CO₂ laser tube filled with gas. When high voltage is applied, the gas discharges and emits light.

This light is reflected between a total mirror and an output coupler at the ends of the tube, amplifying the energy to form a laser beam.

Generation: The laser beam exits the tube.

Expansion & Steering: The beam passes through an expander and then hits two high-speed moving mirrors (galvanometers).

Focusing: The beam passes through a F-Theta (F-θ) lens, which focuses the laser spot to a precise point on the workpiece.

Marking: The computer-controlled mirrors trace the desired pattern (text, logo, or image) onto the material surface.

The energy heats the material until it vaporizes (evaporates) or changes color.

CO2 Laser Marking Machines FAQ

Q1: What is a CO₂ laser marking machine best used for?

+

-

CO₂ lasers are ideal for marking and engraving non-metallic materials. Common applications include wood, acrylic, glass, leather, paper, cardboard, and most plastics. They are widely used in the food & beverage industry for dating codes on PET bottles and cartons, as well as in packaging, textiles, and promotional product engraving.

Q2: How do I choose between a CO₂ laser and a Fiber laser?

+

-

The primary deciding factor is your material:

CO₂ Laser: Choose this for organic materials (wood, paper, leather, acrylic) and some plastics.

Fiber Laser: Choose this for all bare metals (steel, brass, aluminum, copper) and some engineered plastics

Q3: If some problems happen to this machine, what should I do?

+

-

We provide two years of machine warranty. During the two-year warranty, in case any problem for the machine, we will provide the parts free of charge (except for artificial damage). After the warranty, we still provide the whole life service. So any doubts, just let us know, we will give you solutions.

Q4: What is the difference between 9.3µm and 10.6µm CO₂ lasers?

+

-

The 10.6µm wavelength is the standard, cost-effective option for most general applications. The 9.3µm wavelength is a specialized variant designed for high-contrast marking on heat-sensitive materials like PET, thin films, and certain plastics. It causes less heat damage and burn marks, making it ideal for transparent films and high-quality plastic engraving.

Q5: What's the delivery time of Portable CO2 Laser Engraver?

+

-

Commonly, the lead time is within 5~7working days after receiving the payment.
