This FAQs collects the questions that customers often ask when purchasing Laser cleaning machines, aiming to help customers better solve their questions.
5) About Surface Finish
Stainless steel containers must meet specific roughness requirements, known as "RA readings". The maximum reading allowed is RA 1.2, and the roughness must remain below a minimum. The reason for this is to ensure that food and/or liquids cannot leave residue on the rough edges before it is classified as a container being contaminated. It is also very difficult to clean these containers after use, especially if residue is found inside. I think if the beam was adjustable it would solve the problem as the customer could adjust at their discretion. The question that should usually be asked is what is the 300W. What would the finish be for the 500W and 1000W?
According to the principle of laser cleaning, the surface of the workpiece, dirt, rust or coating absorbs the laser to evaporate or peel off instantly, while the substrate hardly absorbs the laser. Therefore, when cleaning with 300W, 500W and 1000W, the overall finish of the substrate will not be much different.

Surface hardness changes before and after cleaning
Using a micro Vickers hardness tester, the surface hardness values of the A7050FD-T74 aluminum alloy substrate before and after cleaning are measured as shown in following Table:

Judging from the test results, the surface hardness of the workpieces before cleaning was 161.8HV on average, and the surface hardness increased slightly after 5 cleanings, reaching an average of 164.7HV.
Surface roughness changes before and after cleaning
Use a surface roughness measuring instrument to measure the surface roughness values of the aluminum alloy before and after cleaning. The results are as follows

From the test results, the rusted surface roughness value (Ra) of the workpiece before cleaning is 4.96 on average, and the surface roughness value (Ra) after cleaning for 10 times is on average 5.01, with almost no change.

7)About Cleaning of used containers
Customers need to improve the cleaning of used containers because this situation is increasing. After the product is delivered to the container, the used container is repaired and cleaned. The container is washed and cleaned vigorously, but the residue of the transported product may remain on the surface and welded joints. It must be cleaned, which is also a problem that smoke may accumulate inside the container. Can we provide a portable fume exhaust device to help solve this problem?
